Building a sensor network with off-the-shelf hardware is easier than you think. For this kit, we use Texas Instruments (TI) Sensortags and a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth gateway.
TI Sensortags include 10 low-power sensors: ambient light, digital microphone, magnetic sensor, humidity, pressure, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, object temperature and ambient temperature. They are ultra-low power, with years of battery life from a single coin cell battery. And they can be purchased at a very convenient price: less than US$ 40.
These tags can be used in many different applications: the limit is your fantasy.
